In 2014 Kate and Sanele had 2 miscarriages and then they had their first successful pregnancy. Their third miscarriage was after their first child had been born. Kate and Sanele had a long fertility journey and so the third miscarriage really hit hard. On top of that, the miscarriage had to be medically managed and left Kate feeling very alone in that experience. Rather than processing everything, Kate carried on with life and work and Sanele also didn’t take much time to grieve the loss. It wasn’t until they started talking to friends and family that they realised miscarriage was as common as it is. They would love to see miscarriage being normalised and talked about more.
